Honest as the sunrise, unapologetic as the rain,
sincere as crickets singing in the wheat fields, you get a glimpse
of life as simple as nature itself when you listen to the Southern
people are born with a destiny and a calling. In the first chapter
of Jeremiah, God tells the prophet, “I knew you before you were
born…I sanctified you and appointed you as my spokesman to the
world.” The Southern Brothers are an exciting young trio dedicated
to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through song. Scott, Tim and
Todd Mills, better known collectively as the Southern Brothers, have
all grown up surrounded by music, knowing from the beginning that it
was a gift from God.
With a calm self-assurance that's characteristic of the Southern
Brothers, each member holds visions and dreams for the future that
are remarkably of one mind. Their harmonies will melt you, their
spirits will make you smile and their music will move you.
The most meaningful ministry takes place offstage, just listening
and talking to people. This group of guys wants to be uplifting on a
spiritual level, but also really connect in a real-life, everyday
sort of way. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; because the Lord
has appointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; he has sent me
to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to them that are bound" Isaiah 61:1.
Scott is the lead singer for the group and an accomplished
songwriter. His songs are included on all of the Southern Brothers
projects. His best known song is “Jesus” which went to #9 on the
Singing News Charts and 22 for the year. While Scott loves to sing,
he is also an outdoorsman. He enjoys bow hunting for deer, turkey
hunting and fishing.
Tim is a full time college student at Southeast Missouri State
University working towards a degree in psychology. His long-term
goal is to become a psychologist. In his spare time, he
enjoys reading and skiing to name a few things.
Todd is the baritone singer for the group. Offstage, he is a cowboy
through and through. Todd competes in various roping events. While
he is “off-duty”, you can find him on a horse honing his skills as a
team roper or as an individual.
