For nearly twenty years Kenny traveled with
his dad and his brother in one of Christian music's
most popular Southern Gospel trios. The Bishops garnered several
industry and fan awards including the coveted Dove Award as well as
numerous number one and top ten songs. The group made a name for
themselves appearing on television and stages all across America.
Their songs were constants on most every radio station and program
that featured Southern Gospel music. After thousands of miles, more
than two dozen recordings and hundreds of songs, the Bishops, as a
group, retired in 2001.
Soon after the group's retirement, Kenny went to
work in politics. Even though he had worked as a part time political
advisor and consultant while traveling with the his family, helping
run and manage local political races, Kenny joined the campaign
staff of U.S. Congressman Ernie Fletcher in the summer of 2002. The
next year when the Congressman ran for Governor of Kentucky and won,
Kenny went to work in the Fletcher administration at the state
capitol.
Now, after nearly 4 years of quiet reflection, Kenny
is once again listening to the heart of God as he embarks on his
next mission.
"Things have to be different this time around,"
Kenny says. "These last four years have taken me around the universe
emotionally, philosophically and most importantly, spiritually. I've
learned more about the heart and the mind of God in these past
seasons than I could've ever imagined. I know more now about who God
is, how He loves and why. And I am so anxious to share my find."
Plans for his first solo recording in ten years were announced
recently as Kenny signed an exclusive recording agreement with
Daywind Records. The project is scheduled for a mid-spring 2006
release.
